Cushions are the icing on the cake when styling a property. Sure, our contemporary furniture is beautiful on its own, but a room isn’t complete until cushions are set in place and chopped. Hence why they are one of our five essential furnishings for DIY home staging.
Cushions are a low-cost item that can transform your space. They are easily swapped and paired to create fresh looks throughout your home. Our advice is to create a ‘base’ collection that will work throughout all the rooms in your home and then invest in a few bolder and unique cushions to add the wow factor.
If you’re in the market for cushions, you know that the options are endless. There are countless suppliers offering an array of cushions in different styles, materials, and price points. But with so many options, it can be challenging to know where to start.
That’s why we’ve compiled a list of our favourite cushion suppliers. We’ll share what makes each supplier stand out and provide some examples of their best offerings.
Whether you’re looking for something cozy and comfortable or bold and statement-making, we’ve got you covered. We’ll guide you through some of the best cushion suppliers so you can find the perfect cushions to elevate your home décor.
Città Design
We have fallen in love with the cushion range from Città Design. They are bold, beautiful, super slick with a touch of masculinity.
Città is a New Zealand design company with all of their cushion covers designed in New Zealand by in-house textile designers.
Their cushion range is a combination of beautiful block coloured covers in textured velvets and linens, through to oversized plaids and florals. Mixing their range creates the perfect combination of colour and pattern, which is our staple when styling.
Città provide a range of shapes and sizes, much broader than the standards many other suppliers stock. All with a quality feather infills available to suit size.
We are currently obsessed with the Cabin range. The designer has taken inspiration from the classic New Zealand wool blankets, using check and tartan patterns in surprising colour combos.
Città Design adds a bold and contemporary finish to our styling and we cannot get enough!
Eadie Lifestyle
Eadie Lifestyle has a gorgeous cushion range incorporating linen, texture and a plenty of subtle natural palette options available. They are our go-to when we need to stock up with neutrals for property styling. However, they’ve also been our first choice when designing a package for a client seeking a coastal, relaxed feel.
We love their fringed 100% linen Luca cushions in plain block colours which are frequent staples at styling jobs. They also have a range of classic pinstripe available in a selection of colours, perfect for adding the pattern element by itself or mixing with a more detailed cushion. Eadie’s range makes it easy to select a coordinated layered look.
Pillow Talk
The end of last year was the busiest we’ve ever been and we were pleasantly surprised at Pillow Talk during a frenzied shopping spree. Their range has a distinct summer feel with plenty of bold stripes, wide flanged edges, cotton fringing and on-trend earthy and coastal tones.
The Sahara Linen Striped Cushion is currently on high rotation in our styling jobs as it can easily be paired a block colour or used on its own in a pair.
Pillow Talk cushions are affordable and come with quality inserts included. While writing this article, I also discovered Pillow Talk began right here in Brisbane as a single store on Ann St over 40 years ago.
Being a local cushion retailer, they also produce their marketing here in Queensland. Pillow Talk shot their Spring Campaign at Casa Blanca, the beautiful home of Bianca Mulligan. I’ve had the pleasure of touring the home with Bianca herself.
If you haven’t yet seen the incredible home of Bianca’s on Instagram, you must check it out @casablanca_creative. There you’ll find photos from Pillow Talk’s shoot. See for yourself how beautifully they tie in with the stunning Mediterranean style of the home.
IKEA
IKEA provide quality basics to our styling. Their range includes options for indoor and outdoor use, as well as cushions designed specifically for chairs, sofas, and beds. If we are ever one cushion short with little time to spare, we know we can find a suitable option at IKEA.
One of the unique features of IKEA’s cushion range is their focus on sustainability. Many of their cushions are made from eco-friendly materials, such as recycled polyester, organic cotton, and linen. Additionally, they have a “Better Cotton Initiative“. Their aim is to improve cotton production for a more sustainable and ethical industry. This helps us sleep a bit better at night, considering how many cushions we have bought from IKEA.
Their cushion range offers a wide variety of styles, colours, and patterns to choose from. You can find cushions in solid colours, stripes, florals, and geometric prints, as well as textured options like faux fur and velvet.
Surprisingly, Ikea’s cushion range provides customers with sustainable options that are versatile enough to fit a variety of design styles and preferences. What’s unsurprising is that they are incredibly affordable. IKEA is known for value and their cushions are no different.
